While the Corona Virus is pretty much the only thing in the news right now, I thought it would be a good idea to touch base with you and give you a few links that might be helpful.
HMRC have set up a new helpline for businesses paying income tax, VAT, PAYE/NIC via ‘time to pay’ arrangements which could help those needing to spread/defer liabilities over the coming weeks/months.
The new number is 0800 0159 559
The HMRC news item with details of the service may be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/tax-helpline-to-support-businesses-affected-by-coronavirus-covid-19
Moving on, in the budget, the Chancellor gave out some information about changes to SSP for employees and Universal Credit/ESA for the self-employed. Once again full details may be found on the HMRC website here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/support-for-those-affected-by-covid-19/support-for-those-affected-by-covid-19#to-support-businesses-experiencing-increases-in-costs-or-financial-disruptions
Despite seeming like it has dominated the news for ever, it is still early days and we are all still getting to grips with what it might mean for our businesses. In terms of software – payroll for instance – right now it is unlikely that payroll software will capture the SSP changes, so do keep an eye on developments from your payroll software provider.
I shall do my best to keep my clients as up to date as I possibly can, either via email or on my FaceBook page (https://www.facebook.com/WeAreOxfordTaxSolutions/)
If you have any specific questions please get in touch and I will do whatever I can to assist.
In terms of my business, Oxford Tax Solutions’ employees already work from home so there should be no change to our service. We can also arrange FaceTime, WhatsApp, Skype or Zoom meetings online, so, apart from face to face meetings, things will carry on as before.
Stay safe and keep in touch.
